Home sales in Montreal rose 14.2% in March from a year earlier as the housing market begins to recover with the arrival of spring.
According to the Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers, home sales in Montreal totalled 4,488 in March, up from 3,930 in the same month of 2023.
Despite the rise, the number of sales in March was below the historical average for this time of year.
The median price for all housing types was up year-over-year, led by a 5.6% rise in the price of a single-family home at $565,000.
Meanwhile, the median price for a plex building rose 5.5% to $750,000 and the median price for a condominium rose 4.9% to $400,000.
The number of active listings in March increased 17% compared with a year earlier to 18,707, while new listings rose 10.4% to 6,973.
